SD-Access

Orchestration & policy Fabric — data & control Underlay (no fabric role)

The SD-Access fabric: DNA Center orchestrates ISE (policy) and the Analytics Engine (assurance) through the NCP message bus; inside the fabric, Border, Control-Plane and Wireless Controller nodes sit above an IS-IS underlay mesh, with Edge Nodes carrying VXLAN out to wired and wireless endpoints.

Enterprise SDN controller — GUI-driven design, policy, provisioning and assurance, exposed to other apps via shared context.

Identity Services (ISE)

NAC and identity engine; maps endpoints to groups dynamically and hands DNA Center its policy definitions.

Analytics Engine (NDP)

Network Data Platform — collectors that analyze endpoint-to-app flows and monitor fabric health for Assurance.

The LISP map system: it tracks every endpoint-to-device relationship so any node can resolve where a host lives.

A fabric device (typically the Core) that hands off between the SDA fabric and external L3 networks.

A fabric device (Access/Distribution) that terminates wired endpoints and encapsulates their traffic onto the fabric.

A fabric-integrated WLC — brings APs and wireless endpoints into the same fabric as wired traffic.

Intermediate Nodes

Plain underlay devices that just route IP between fabric nodes — they carry no fabric role of their own.
